Here are some various club announcements ahead of the new season……..
.
AGM & Annual Fees:
First of all many thanks for everyone that came along to the AGM. It was all very quick (!) & straightforward with no significant changes. Our fees remain the same, and we would now ask for everyone to pay their annual fees as soon as possible.
This can be done either by transfer to our bank account at HSBC, or to our RSC PayPal account.
Our bank account details are as follows:
Bank: HSBC
Company Name: THE RANGERS SUPPORTERS CLUB – HONG KONG CHAPTER
Account No.: 741 084123 838
If you would prefer to pay via PayPal, payment can be made using this email address: secretary@rangers.hk , or if you prefer let me know and I can send a PayPal invoice.
When you make a payment, please can you send a record of your payment to our club treasurer Andy Ross at the following email address: andyross625@gmail.com and also copy to the secretary@rangers.hk email address too for record.
I’d also like to thank Paul Kay for compiling the following YouTube playlist from a select and scientific HKRSC member poll that he conducted. The playlist was viewed in the Trafalgar following the AGM: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLhqmNrWQRM7ZfFIA1fN-DcN0Anei4tN9H

Scott Nisbet
As you may have seen, former Rangers player and regular at the Hong Kong Soccer 7s, Scott Nisbet has recently been diagnosed with cancer. Scott has 4 kidney tumours and requires life-threatening surgery. The former Rangers Players Benevolent Fund has set up the following JustGiving page. As agreed at the AGM, the HKRSC has already made a donation of £250. See attached. If you would also like to make a personal contribution, you can do so here:
Scott has been sending some video messages to Colin Stewart (trustee at the former Rangers Players charity) which he has been sharing on his Twitter feed. You can follow Colin on Twitter here: https://twitter.com/RFC_Colin
He is in very good spirits and his messages are very entertaining too!

Running for Jack
We were very recently contacted by Lorna McCabe, a Hong Kong resident and very close friend of Louise Stevens, the wife of former Rangers players Gary Stevens. Gary and his family now reside in Perth, Australia and recently received the shattering news that their beloved son Jack had Leukaemia. Jack is the youngest of their 3 boys and just turned 3 on the 12th June. As part of a fund raising drive to help her friends, Lorna will be running a virtual marathon here in Hong Kong this coming Saturday morning. She will start at 5:30am in the morning and will run a total of 42.2km along Bowen Road. Lorna has been very kind to also share some family photos from the Stevens family (below). You can read the full bio and make a donation to Lorna via the following link (Please note that donations are listed in Aussie dollars): https://www.gofundme.com/f/ght6t-running-for-jack
Lorna also has set up a Twitter account for her run which I would encourage any Twitter users to follow and help spread her message: https://twitter.com/runningforjack

Rangers vs Sheep (a)
In terms of our opening league match against the sheep this coming Saturday, due to the current social distancing measures the Trafalgar, and all other bars, will be closed for this match, hence it looks like it’s going to be Rangers TV from home for us all.
I’m awake at 9am on a Sunday.. that can only mean one thing – it’s Old Firm day!!
We travel across the city to take on you know who at Parkhead. With only 800 bears in attendance it will take a very special performance to get a result there but after what we witnessed on Thursday anything is possible!
The game will be shown live in Trafalgar, Broadway building on Lockhart Road in Wanchai with a 7pm kick off. We expect it to be busy so best to arrive sharp.
Below is an email we received from Mr. Iain McWhirter of MND Scotland following our donation from the funds raised at the raffle during the Scottish Cup semi-final match.
Thank you so much to everyone at the Hong Kong Rangers Supporters Club for this wonderful donation of $2,550.00 HKD to MND Scotland following the recent raffle.
I’m really grateful to you all for making a real difference to the lives of everyone affected by Motor Neurone Disease. It’s only because of support from people like you that we can continue to fund research to find a cure, support people in Scotland who have been affected by MND, and campaign on behalf of people with this cruel illness.
To have witnessed the devastating impact of MND on Fernando Ricksen has been heart-breaking, and the bravery of his fight against the disease has been truly inspirational.
We can, we must and we will find a cure. Thanks again for your generosity which will take us one step closer to this goal.
Another trip to Hampden on Sunday as I’m sure you all know …
This time it’s the Scottish Cup Semi Final we do battle in at 7pm local HK time.
The match as usual will be shown live in Trafalgar in Wan Chai. As there is a larger than normal turnout expected we have asked Trafalgar to have the game on as many screens as possible but I would still recommend arriving sharpish to ensure a good view.
Also, at half-time we will be holding a raffle with the great photograph of the Ibrox gates (pic attached if I’ve managed to do it correctly!!) as the top prize. This one-off was kindly donated by HKRSC member John Inglis. It is a great photograph which I’m sure John will tell us more about on Sunday. Many thanks to John for the kind donation.
The raffle will be equally split between club funds and charity.
I look forward to seeing you on Sunday evening at the match!
Cheers,
Another good win versus Airdrie during the week and a nice home draw in the next round of the cup.
.
The HKRSC AGM will take place on 12th September at 20.30 in Trafalgar before the game versus Livi .
If any member has any issues/questions they would like raised at the meeting please let me know by return to this email or feel free to raise on the evening. All issues will be openly discussed and voted on by members. If you cannot make it, ask someone you know will be there to vote on your behalf.
.
Over the next few days I will send out some points that I think we need to discuss/vote on as a club but feel free to add to them.
The HKRSC exists to add value to our members and to Rangers Football Club.
.
For those who have paid the 2015/16 dues so far, thank you very much as you will have first call at the events this season, including a very exciting one which will be revealed soon!
.
See you Sunday for the match versus Queen of the South, 7:30pm start in the Trafalgar.
Rangers now have 2 active fan ownership schemes that allow contributions from overseas from as little as £5 a month. They are both very easy to set up and it should only take 5-10 minutes maximum.
They are Rangers First & Buy Rangers (Ran by the Rangers Supporters Trust). Both schemes involve purchasing shares in Rangers, so have a look at both websites and decide which one you feel more aligned to, or if you like sign up for both.
.
Both Jorg Albertz and Claudio Reyna are both life members of the Rangers First Club 1872, which involves a one-off £500 contribution. (The Hong Kong RSC & ORSA are 1872 life members). http://www.rangersfirst.org/
So please spend a little bit of time to look at the schemes and sign up to at least one, if not both.
It is vitally important we keep the momentum going on this, so once you are sorted, please help spread the word to you family & friends and encourage them to get on board too!
This is all about strength in numbers and a chance to show that we really are the people!
Please note that the new date of the AGM is likely to be Friday, 29th August.
This date has been proposed as the people from Rangers First have agreed to give us a presentation over Skype on the benefits of their fan ownership vehicle.
To find out more on Rangers First, please visit their website here:
I would strongly encourage everyone to sign up for a monthly donation to Rangers First. It takes no more than 5-10 minutes to set up and you can donate as little as GBP5 a month.
For the Falkirk game, this kicks-off at 2:45am in the early hours of tomorrow morning.
The Trafalgar won’t be open for this game, but if you would like to watch it, you can do so via Rangers TV.
