The small matter of playing against a new club…………or so they like to tell us!!
As we all know, we face the team from the East of the city on Saturday in the first old firm game of the season at Parkhead.
It will be amazing to see how many empty seats are in the home end as I don’t think many of them will turn up for a small game against such a newly formed club. Then again, who am I to argue against their kind of logic??? Usually I just laugh at it.
The game will be shown live in Trafalgar in Wanchai as usual with a 7pm kick off HK time. We expect it to be pretty busy as usual for this game so I would recommend arriving sharp. We will have the game on a number of screens so hopefully everyone will get a good view of the match.
For those interested in attending this exclusive lunch with 9-in-row Rangers legend, Ian Ferguson, please send an email to secretary@rangers.hk
All at the Hong Kong Rangers Supporters Club would like to thank twitter legend @oldrangerspics for supplying what can only be described as one of the most staunch Rangers photographs in existence!
For those of you who attended the Richard Keys and Andy Gray evening on Thursday night, I’m sure you had a very enjoyable time. I certainly did, although my head didn’t quite agree with that this morning. Good fun at the time…
A big thank you to everyone involved in organising last night and great to see such an impressive amount of cash raised for a very worthy charity.
On the footballing side, after the midweek win over the Saints in the League Cup, we move to Scottish Cup duty this weekend and at the same ground where we played last weekend.
We face Dumbarton in the Cup and the game will be shown as usual in Trafalgar in Wanchai with an 11pm kick-off tomorrow. Remember the clocks have gone back in the UK so games now an hour later for us, so hopefully we will do the business tomorrow and avoid a midweek replay.
The Hong Kong Rangers Supporters Club are proud to announce that we have joined Rangers First with a “Club 1872” life membership.
We would also strongly encourage all other fans to also join up at whatever level they can. Monthly subscriptions start from as little as £5 a month.
Rangers First if also available to overseas fans, so it is now the time to use our vast global fan base and start the ball rolling to get more say in what is going on at our club.
It has been hugely encouraging to see the Rangers First membership grow substantially in the last few days alone with 140 new members yesterday alone edging the membership close to the 2,000 mark – so there is a very strong chance the membership in Rangers First will have doubled in the space of a week! Let’s keep the momentum going and help spread the word!
So be sure to sign up and join an ever expanding group of like-minded fans who only want the best for our club.
For more details on joining please go to: http://www.rangersfirst.org/
Both ORSA & the Perth RSC are already Rangers First Club 1872 life members!
Tonight Rangers welcome Queen of the South to Ibrox which should provide a decent enough test for Rangers following convincing wins recently against Clyde & Dumbarton.
Kick-off is 10pm and will be screened live in the Trafalgar via Rangers TV.
Bears,
The Rangers vs Hearts league opener from Ibrox will be shown live in The Trafalgar. It will Kick-off at 8:30pm local HK time.
It’ll be interesting to see who unfurls the flag & what type of reception they may get from the fans that are there……
The Hong Kong Soccer 7s kicks-off in little under 5 hours with the Rangers Legends leading the way with their first match tonight!
As you will all know the Legends are back in Hong Kong to defend the title they won last year, and if they do it will give them a hat-trick of Masters titles! Many of the faces that make up the squad are very familiar to this tournament, but both Dale Gordon & Pieter Huistra will be making their Rangers “Legends” débuts.
The Masters tournament has the makings of being a very keenly fought affair this year as the number of ex-pro’s has increased somwhat. Ajax certainly seem to be out for revenge following their defeat to the Rangers in last years final and for us they are our main rivals once again. Other teams to look out for are the PFA’s Citibank All-Stars, Nottingham Forest Mobsters & Wallsend Boys Club featuring Alan Thompson……
Certainly the Rangers players are in fine form ahead of the tournament and are looking forward to getting under-way tonight.
Soccer 7s Masters Champions 2013!
The Rangers Youth team, competing in the main (open) tournament get their matches under-way tomorrow (Saturday) morning. Gordon Durie’s squad is looking good and has a very good mix of pace and skill. The squad includes a few players that have been here before, namely Kyle McAusland, Calum Gallagher & Jamie Burrows. The remainder of the squad are making their débuts in Hong Kong and 8 0f the 10 all played in the very recent Youth Scottish Cup Final victory over Hearts. They will face Manchester City in their group and will hope to repeat the defeat they handed out to them in last years quarter-finals! The other seeds in the tournament include Chelsea, Newcastle Utd, Sunderland, Aston Villa, Leicester City & China’s Guangzhou Evergrande.

Rangers Legends Strips:
An update on the Rangers Legends strips. We have only just today taken delivery of them – so talk about leaving things to the last minute! As I’m sure everyone can appreciate it has been a very busy time in the lead up to this week, so for those that ordered customised tops, it is our intention to issue invoices and get them posted off after the dust has settled from the weekend. So please bare with us.
For those wishing to order a strip, we will also be re-ordering new tops soon after the tournament, so more to come on that after this weekend. We will be sure to get lots of photos of the tops on here and on our social media sites!
Sponsors:
Finally all at the Hong Kong Rangers Supporters Club would like to thank all of our sponsors for once again bringing out the Rangers Legends once again. Without their support this would not have been possible.
Platinum sponsors: Baker Tilly & AI London
Gold sponsor: Supermec
Silver sponsors: AM Capital, RWB, Hong Kong Trading Limited & DRF Consultancy Ltd.
For the record, the Rangers Youth team are 100% paid for by the tournament sponsors and the Rangers Legends are 100% paid for by passionate Hong Kong based Rangers fans within the Hong Kong RSC.
Following the hugely disappointing display and result in last week’s Ramsdens Cup final, tonight the players have a chance to massively redeem themselves in what is easily our biggest match of the season so far.
Dundee United will come calling to a “neutral” Ibrox tonight with a place in the Scottish Cup Final next month up for grabs. There is no doubt we are going to be up against it with injuries to key players, Cammy Bell the most recent suffering through a training ground incident. Steve Simonsen will come in though and has been a more than able deputy. Lee Wallace looks also to be struggling as are David Templeton & Andy Little. Add to that the long term injury to Lewis MacLeod and we are potentially missing 5 starting players. What this means to the remainder of the squad is that they will have to step up and show the qualities required to be a Ranger. Jock Wallace summed it up once before with his famous Battle Fever quote and that is exactly what we need tonight, from the fans in the stand right through to the substitutes on the bench.
Kick-off is 7:45pm and will be shown live in the Trafalgar via Rangers TV.
The Hong Kong RSC are delighted to announce that we are once again bringing out the Rangers Legends to Hong Kong for the 2014 Soccer 7s at the end of May to defend their title.
Thanks to those that have come forward so far to help with sponsorship to make this happen.
.
As a result of this we will be placing an order for the strips this week, so once again we are going to open it out to anyone that would like a customised top, so you can have any name & number you would like.
.
They are available in either in the Blue “home” design or the Orange “away” design.
Each customised top costs HK$350 each (approx. GBP27) and does NOT include shorts & socks.
As a rough guide, P&P to the UK will cost approx. GBP8, so the total cost will be approx. GBP35 for orders to the UK.
.
Please see below for the designs and sizing chart. As per last year these tops will be “fitted”, so they will be tight. In other words it might not be a bad idea to maybe go up a size or two 😉
.
If interested, please email us at merchandise@rangers.hk with the quantity you require, colour, size and details of the name and number you would like on the back.
.
The deadline for orders will be this coming Tuesday, 18th March at midday HK time.
.
Please note we will not be ordering any extra tops, only what people request.
