The Rangers squad for the HKFC Citibank International Soccer 7s 2013 is as follows:
Liam Kelly:- Goalkeeper. Nationality:- Scotland
Liam was on the bench for the Under 19′s on a few occasions last season, a surprise omission from the recent Scotland squad following the trials. It’s only a matter of time until he is selected for Scotland and could make the Victory Shield squad. Sometimes height could be a possible issue for a young goalkeeper, with Liam already around the six foot mark there are no worries on that count.
Kyle McAusland:-Defence. Nationality:- Scotland
Joined from Ayr United originally as a striker Kyle made the right-back slot his own last season. Captained of the youth side last season, I still feel his best position would be in central defence. Currently out injured, once back to full fitness could push for a place in the first team.
Luca Gasparotto:- Centre Defence. Nationality:- Canada
Luca has been a revelation since joining Rangers at the start of the year. He soon forced his way into the under 19′s side last season before injury cut his season short. If anything he has made further strides since this season started and should the first team be hit with injuries and suspension in central defence Luca must have a great chance of making the first team. Captain of the Canadian under 18 side.
Robbie Crawford :- Midfield. Nationality:- Scotland
Robbie was exceptional at the younger age groups, but got a bad injury and missed most of the under 14′s year. Despite having an up and down season with the youths last year, he wasn’t always picked to play in the starting line up. Robbie has been on the fringes of the first team this season, a footballer’s footballer here’s hoping Robbie can continue to progress.
Charlie Telfer:- Midfield. Nationality:- Scotland
A skilful and creative midfielder, although not the biggest physically he coped well last season and earned rave reviews from SFA’s Mark Wotte. An injury in training has delayed the start of the season for Charlie.
Andy Murdoch:- Midfield. Nationality:– Scotland
Another top performer in last season’s Glasgow Cup Final, and has started this season well and scored in winner in the Youth Cup tie against St.Johnstone. Now settled into midfield have made quite a few appearances at full-back last season.
Tom Walsh :- Midfield. Nationality:- Scotland
Another likely Rangers representative in this year’s Victory Shield. Midfield is the strongest part of this squad and Tom would be a first pick. Skilful, creative and although not the biggest is sure to play for the 17′s this season.
Fraser Aird:- Midfield. Nationality:- Canada/Scotland
Fraser’s parents are originally from Glasgow and after initially coming over on trial he joined Rangers. Forced his way into the 19′s side last season, an exciting winger he has opted to player for Scotland and has been capped at youth level.
Jamie Burrows:- Striker. Nationality:- Jersey(Maybe Scotland will claim him first)
The Jersey youngster from St.Paul’s FC on the island joined Rangers last season following a successful trial period. Since then he has made steady progress and featured for the 19′s last season. Started this season well and played against St.Johnstone at Ibrox in the youth cup tie.
Callum Gallagher :- Striker. Nationality:- Scotland
Joined the youth ranks after impressing on trial having previously been at Dundee United, one thing you can be sure with Callum is he really does put in a shift. He never gives defenders a minutes peace. I would class Callum as one of last season’s successes, there isn’t a harder working player around. Injury cut his season short but he has started this season with a bang finding the net in most of the early season games.
