Forres Mechanics at Mosset Park next

Earlier this week saw Rangers probably give their finest performance of the season as they swept aside SPL league leaders Motherwell in the League Cup to progress to the quarter-finals.

The chips seemed to be down pre-match as Ian Black failed his fitness test, plus Sandaza was taken off early in the match with an injury to his cheekbone that will see him out until the new year! We are not having much luck in the injury department but on the positive side of things the youngsters that have come in have certainly stepped up and played!

Kyle Hutton(21) came on for the injured Sandaza and it was good to see him take his chance having been frozen out since the opening game of the season. He certainly did himself no harm with an excellent display.

Fraser Aird, who some of you might remember from last year’s HK soccer 7’s, has been nothing short of fantastic in the last 2 games. This lad is only 17 but runs at defenders with pace at every possible opportunity. Add to that other home grown talent such as Barrie McKay(17), Ross Perry (22), Robbie Crawford(19) and the very impressive Lewis MacLeod (18), then the future is indeed bright (I’ll let you finish the rest!). All of these players will just get better and better as they get more pitch time, and when you add to that the players we signed such as Argyriou (24), Faure(21) & Templeton (23), we have the makings of a team that can grow over the coming seasons into potentially something quite special, so we certainly have plenty to look forward too.

Goals from the Montrose match with Sheils, MacLeod (pick of the bunch), McCulloch & Crawford:

Also, if you were ever in any doubt that we are still the only show in town, you will enjoy this link from France Football, the image alone showing MacLeod scoring is amazing:
