Rangers vs Motherwell – Saturday 11 February @ 11.00pm live in Amici.
Last week’s performance and result were ultimately disappointing as we failed to press home our numerical advantage. We seemed to sit far to deep and allow Celtc to pass the ball around and slowly build up their confidence. I think we basically made them look better than what they are.
It could have been all so different, following a wonder strike from Jamie Ness (this lad is 19 and rumours are already abound that Arsenal, amongst others, are keeping tabs on him), if the Davis strike went in rather than hitting the bar, we could have been in easy street as early as the 4th minute. It was not to be though. We will now travel to CarParkhead on the 2nd March for the replay.
If there is anything positive to take out of the game it is certainly the display of Diouf. He seemed to revel in the atmosphere and you could see that he is a class player. He will still settle further as he gets to know his team mates better. That and a number of the players in that game have recently come back from injury (Jelavic, Edu, Naismith) which might explain why we seemed to run out of steam into the 2nd half. Ness too toiled in the second half, but he, like the others, will also only get stronger in the coming weeks and months – hopefully all in time for the next visit to the Glitterdome a week on Sunday.
This Saturday we entertain Motherwell at Ibrox, a side now under the stewardship of ex-Ranger Stuart McCall. This will be the second time we will have faced them under McCall after they ran us close in the League Cup semi-final a short while ago at Hampden. Rangers will need to get back to their best to make sure we win this match and maintain our title challenge.
This game kicks-off at 11.00pm and will be shown live in Amici via Goal TV 2.
