Rangers travel to Old Trafford in the Champions League

Manchester United vs Rangers – Wednesday 15 September @ 2.45am live in Amici.

Champions League football is back on the menu once again as Rangers travel to Old Trafford for their opening tie.

It doesn’t get much tougher than this, and as Scotland’s only representative in Europe now, the weight of an entire nations rests on Rangers shoulders.

Rangers clearly had one eye on this fixture when they faced Hamilton Accies last weekend. Thankfully we managed to score a late winner which was a great relief.

I have no doubt confidence will be high in the squad though. What we may lack in terms of quality, we certainly have bundles of in terms of experience – many of the current Rangers crop of players played their part in the team that got all the way to the Europa League final, many of this team also represent their country. In Bougherra we have a player that shackled Rooney so expertly in the World Cup. Plus in Kenny Miller we have a player at the height of his powers who has experience scoring a winning goal against Man U at Old Trafford during his Wolves days. Weir, Davis & McCulloch also have an abundance of Premiership games under their belts.

It’s certainly going to be a tough game, but never say never to Rangers securing some kind of result.

This game will be shown live in Amici, kicking-off at 2.45am on Wednesday morning (or late Tuesday night depending on how you look at it!)
